Traditional Zulu Dance

This is a very good example of the powerful and energetic traditional zulu war dance, which is almost entirely performed by men. The kicks to the ground are a sign of the men's strength and the more dust and noise they create the more cheers and recognition they will get.

Traditionally, only the strongest warriors would perform this dance before or after battle. Also, whoever had the strongest kick in those dances was often considered to be a real Zulu Warrior - in the sense of "if he has such a strong kick, he must have the strength to be a good warrior".
